Flip or Flop Christina and Tarek

HGTV is the home of the very popular real estate TV series called Flip or Flop.

The hosts of this incredibly popular show are named Tarek and Christina El Moussa. And even though there are a number of different Flip or Flop TV series currently in existence, these two hosts are the originals.

The Premise of Flip or Flop

Prior to the housing market crash in 2008, Christina and Tarek were both very successful real estate agents.

But as the economy went down in flames and the housing market dropped like a rock, these two recognized the opportunity to buy valuable real estate at a low price.

So they took it upon themselves to start flipping homes after the crash, and their main focus was on buying properties located in Orange County, California.

During the year 2011, Tarek decided that he wanted to be on TV, so he asked a good friend of his to help create an audition tape that he could send to HGTV.

In the audition tape, they filmed a full episode, and the content was the entire house flipping process taking place from the beginning to the end.

After it was done, the audition tape was then mailed to HGTV. And HGTV expressed interest, but they wanted to have a show with the married couple involved.

Christina’s area of expertise is all about design, but she also helps Tarek find the right homes for them to renovate.

In all of the houses, she handles the entirety of the design aspects of these new places and is great at keeping everything going smoothly while working to a strict schedule.

Christina and Terek’s Personal Life

Tarek El Moussa and his wife Christina both grew up in California. He was born and raised in Buena Park, California, while Christina Meursinge Haack actually grew up in Anaheim Hills.

Tarek originally earned his real estate license at the very young age of 21, and he met his wife Christina in the real estate business.

Early in their careers, they were selling real estate in Southern California. And as we all know, the housing market took a nosedive in 2008 during the crash once the stock market hit rock bottom.

As you can imagine, their finances took a major hit at this time, and they had to move from their $6000 a month home to a $700 a month apartment just to get by.

They got married in 2009 and had two kids together named Braden James and Taylor Reese.

Unfortunately, we learned in May 2016 that there were challenges in the marriage and the couple secretly split up. And just this year in January 2017, they made the divorce official.  We won’t talk about the Flip or Flop Divorce, it’s not really our business and we don’t like to delve into personal lives.  We’d rather talk about how their business as real estate flipper’s can be something you can learn from.

Real Estate

Even though the couple is no longer together, they have a real estate agency together named The El Moussa Group.

They currently invest in real estate in California, Nevada, and Arizona, and the company is going stronger than ever. It’s a huge success that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
